Talk:2 Ne 4:1-12
I think the question suggests a misreading of these verses. Here are my thoughts.
- If Lehi is speaking to his sons and his daughters (v. 5; see also v. 3), on whom does he say that the curse will be placed (v. 6)?
If Lehi were speaking to his sons and daughters it would mean that the curse would be placed upon him. If that were the case then such a promise would be self-sacrificing. However, I think verse 3 makes it clear that Lehi is speaking to the children of Laman.

- Matthew, I think you're right. Lehi also addresses the sons and daughters of Lemuel (v. 9) and sons (curiously doesn't mention daughters) of Ishmael (v. 10) and the seed of Sam (v. 11; Why not "sons and daughters of Sam like "sons and daughter of Laman and Lemuel? Perhaps Sam doesn't have sons or daugthers yet?). --RobertC 15:18, 28 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that Matthew is right. This does seem to be based on a misreading. --James Faulconer 15:26, 26 Jan 2006
