Updated thoughts

I probably won't be updating this page very frequently anymore (and when I do find links, I'll probably just incorporate them into appropriate commentary pages). I was mainly curious with this project to see how much scripture discussion was taking place in the Bloggernacle. Although there are a few key bloggers who post careful scriptural analysis from time to time (viz. Ben S. at Millenial Star, Julie Smith and Jim F. at T&S, and Kevin Barney at BCC; I also noticed these posts by danithew which may be worth exploring at some point), I was a bit disappointed with what I found. Rather, I was disappointed not to find more careful writing about the scriptures in the Bloggernacle, but the 'Nacle's loss is Feast's gain, right? I'm more convinced now that Feast is the best on-line venue for careful LDS scripture discussion (though I do think there will to continue to be a niche for on-line Sunday school lesson blogging; it will be interesting to see what happens if/when Jim F. discontinues posting his lessons, something one might expect after he finishes a complete set with the New Testament next year presumably, and hopefully not sooner!). --RobertC 05:08, 21 Apr 2006 (UTC)

Hi Robert, thanks for doing this for a while. It is an interesting project. Hopefully people's interest in writing about the scriptures online (both on this site and in the bloggernacle) will increase. I like the idea of the bloggernacle complementing Feast. One way this could work is if people use the blog to get a possible idea out and generate discussion around it and then post a write-up of the conclusions on Feast commentary pages where appropriate. It think it would be great if the same people who write the blog work on the write-up, but if they aren't inclined to do that, someone else can--as you have done on several occasions. I think you have shown that this type of strategy plays to each medium's strengths. --Matthew Faulconer 05:47, 24 Apr 2006 (UTC)

I agree. If anyone is interested or knows of anyone interested in starting a scripture-focused blog, please let me know (if you're having trouble emailing me or posting to this site, you can find my email address here). I'd be esp. tempted to do this if/when Jim F. quits posting Sunday school lessons at T&S. --RobertC 17:31, 24 Apr 2006 (UTC)
