- In verse 1 wrested means distorted, twisted or perverted. See Webster's 1828 definition here.
Exegesis
In verse 1 Alma tells us that some have gone astray by twisting and distorting the scriptures in relation to the restoration. Though the scriptures are meant for our good, we see here that if we distort them, they can lead us astray.
