Questions

Verse 31

  • What is meant here by "great work"? How was it a work? Why was it great?
  • What does it mean here that the people "feared the Lord"? Why would witnessing this event lead to fear? Are we expected to similarly fear the Lord? What might make us fear the Lord the way the Israelites did?
  • Why would witnessing this event lead the people to believe the Lord? And to believe Moses? What is the relationship between faith and knowledge expressed by this example? Do we need to witness the spectacular to believe? In retrospect, how strong was this belief?
  • What does the fear and belief of the people after this experience tell us about their spiritual state? How are we like these people? How might we be different?
