The initial motivation for this page was the phrase "prepatory redemption" in Alma 13:3.

Prepare in the NT[edit]

  • Wedding feast. See Matt 22:4 where the king prepares the wedding feast. This is analagous to God preparing the way for final judgment where Christ as the bridegroom and the church as the bride will be married.
  • Matt 25:34: "Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:"
  • Mark 10:37-40, 45: "They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory. But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. . . . For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a aransom• for many."
This passage is a bit confusing to me. It may run counter to the idea of Christ being the one that gives us an inheritance (see User:RobertC/Inheritance). The prhaseology here suggests it's the Father that prepares our glory. Regardless, Christ plays an integral part in this process by serving us.
  • Spirit of Elias. John the Baptist prepares way for Savior in Luke 1:17. There may be symbolism here of either priests preparing us to enter God's presence, or the Son preparing us to enter the Father's presence.
  • Luke 12:47: The servant should be prepared b/c he doesn't know when the Lord will return.
