Interests[edit]
Legal Interpretation in the Book of Mormon: There are a few passages in the Book of Mormon that deal directly with issues of legal interpretation or law. I am interested in teasing out the meaning of these passages. For an example of what I am talking about, check out the exegesis under Alma 30:7-10.
Hebrews: I have done a little bit of work on the Epistle to the Hebrews, particularly the central passages focusing on Christ as high priest and his relationship to the temple. I believe that the Epistle to the Hebrews was an important text that Joseph Smith used as a starting place for his revelations on priesthood and the temple. Hence, I am particularly interested in those aspects of Hebrews related to Mormon ideas of priesthood and temple, and seeing how the Doctrine & Covenants and other Restoration scriptures interpret Hebrews. See, for example, the exegesis for Heb 4:11-16 and Heb 5:1-5.
The Gospel and Markets I am also very interested in what the scriptures -- particularlly as filtered through a Mormon lens -- say to us about the meaning, significance, and morality of markets. To get some idea of my thoughts check out:
