Lexical notes

  • The English word "mystery" in verse 11 comes from the Green word musterion used here. The meaning of the Greek word has to do more with something being secret rather than something being baffling, so the verse suggests that the kingdom of God can be known through revelation rather than that it is difficult to understand.
