seven thunders
the dividing of time:
and God said,
Let there be a rod
in the midst of the waters,
and Let it divide the waters
from the waters.
times:
this rod for Ephraim, reLeased to me,
(as if I were God), supports the stars,
but from above: it rules the lights
that rule the days and nights.
so a scepter it appears
in my own hand or, serpentile,
it bears its fangs (or plaited thorns)
that pierce my heart, which mourns.
and yet this rod (said: of my mouth)
is not a broken reed; instead
its iron teeth in pieces break--
dash--me, and for my sake.
and still, my other gift: this rod
to work; but not to wield, to slave;
my unruly member, it
nails me to truth, I wit.
time:
so suffering, bound in embrace
of crucifixion: I see the almond
buds thereby appear that, voiceless, call
beyond the holy hall.
the waters part as loosed tongue becks;
and box eats up my budded scroll--
my token to exalted throne
(whereon sits... flesh and bone).
