The exegesis section needs some work. Much of the commentary probably needs to be broken up and put ont he relevant verses. Some of it goes beyond what the scriptures say (I think) and needs to be moved to a user-page (or since it was posted by ip address only--simply deleted). I haven't had a chance to do any work on this yet, but hope to get around to it at some point--unless someone beats me to it. --Matthew Faulconer 07:23, 19 Sep 2005 (CEST)

Why are the people gathered around the temple?

It's interesting that many people gather around the temple after the destruction and ensuing events from the previous chapters. Similarly, after 9/11, many people found religion and began focusing more on the symbolic temples of their lives. Also, I seem to recall other BOM verses mentioning the temple as the center of the city (at least figuratively)--cross-references to such verses would be interesting here. --RobertC 13:27, 19 Oct 2005 (CEST)

Why are the people gathered around the temle?

The people of nephi have always been a very spiritual people. Even thought they may fall into wickedness their traditions and ancestry leads them to look at the spiritual side of things not just the physical things. When this great destuction took place, the nephites did not think "wow, what an earthquake." The thought "THIS IS THE WRATH OF GOD!" After the destuction the voice of the lord came unto the people and they were given great revelation unto the devinity of the events which took place. The People of nephi remembered the prophacies of Samuel and all the other prophets before him, and knew that this was the sign of the death of Christ. This is the reason why they did as anyone would do, run to there churches, sinagogs, and temples. They knew that this was a spiritual matter so they went to the most spiritual place they had, and literally were waiting for something, wether it be a sign, a prophets voice, or as acctually happened, a visit from the reserected savior, the nephites where gathered together to recieve spiritual enlightenment at the temple and they did. Travis Justin Kamper Can You imagine experiencing what these blessed Nephites got to be a part of. Just imagine your sitting at your house, or working at your job, or whatever your doing and Jesus Christ, The Son of God, the one who made it possible for us to return to live with God again someday descended. What would you say? Would you be capable of saying anything? I think I would just kneel before him and kiss feet and his hands and just weep for joy. --Bhardle

The visit of Christ to the Americas

This literally is the greatest event every to happen in the histoy of this world. The fact that Christ came, ministered, died, and was reserected. He knew of the importance of his life, ministry and death was so great that he had to visit the other people of the world to bear personal testomonie of his devinity, and thus we have 2 proofs of his life, because Christ visited the Americas we know that he lived, because there are 2 records of this, and there are 2 witnesses, that gives solid evedence in our day, that christianity is not just a hoxe, but Christ lives, and that He is our savior. One needs only read this chapter, having basic knowledge of the new testament and will feel the holy ghost, and will truely know that Christ lives. --Travis Justin Kamper
