Exegesis

Verse 25

  • Hand is stretch out still - This verse makes it clear that the Lord does not intend to comfort his people by stretching forth his hand. On the contrary, his plan is to utterly destroy Israel, his vineyard (see 2 Nephi 15:5-6). This same phrase is used four more times in 2 Nephi (19:12, 17, 21 and 20:4). The New Living Translation translates this phrase from Isaiah as: "His fist is still poised to strike."
