Joe, what exactly do you mean by textual criticism here compared to hermeneutical criticism? --RobertC 20:33, 2 Aug 2006 (UTC)
- Textual criticism: sorting out the "sources" and "structures" of the text itself. Hermeneutical criticism: interpreting the meaning of the text, working out the meanings implied by the structures or other discoveries of the textual criticism. I'm drawing the distinction, I guess, between "exegesis" and "hermeneutics" drawn in Thinking Biblically by Paul Ricoeur/Andre LaCoque (an incredible book, by the way). --Joe Spencer 14:03, 3 Aug 2006 (UTC)
