Text transmission
- D&C 1 was written down ________. The oldest surviving copy is the one copied by John Whitmer into Revelation Book 1 soon after its receipt.
- D&C 1 was first published in the March 1833 issue of the Evening & Morning Star newspaper printed by William Phelps in Jackson County Missouri. D&C 1 was also included as Chapter 1 in the 1833 Book of Commandments, the earliest edition of what we now call the Doctrine & Covenants.
- D&C 1 has appeared in each subsequent edition of the Doctrine & Covenants, including the following significant editions:
