Feast upon the Word

Feast upon the Word provides commentary on Mormon scripture, or in other words, on the Standard Works for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Standard Works for the Church include: The Old Testament, The New Testament, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine & Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price. This commentary is provided free to all. In turn, we ask that you freely contribute to this site following our policies.

Feast upon the Word is a collection of thousands of pages. Each page is devoted to analysis of a small passage of the Standard Works. The content on each page is divided into four categories:

  • Thought questions : Questions that aim to help you ponder and contemplate
  • Exegesis : Explanation and analysis
  • Lexical notes : Notes about the meaning or origin of words
  • External links : Links to information outside this site

See how this works in practice at 1 Ne 11:1-5.

In addition, each commentary page is linked to a separate page for discussion. These discussion pages are a great place to communicate with other editors about the commentary or to request commentary on a specific subject related to the verses.

This is a brand new site and your help is needed to create the content. Though there are lots of ways to help, the most important is to create and improve the content of this site. We are just getting started so it is an exciting time to contribute your ideas. If you are not sure how to do this--keep reading.
