We should not use vain repetition.  Imagine if every day your son came to you and asked the same thing every day, forever and ever, always asking the same thing, just for asking.  It would be annoying. However, if your son asks and really really wants what he is asking for, that is another story.  Even if he asks several times it is a different felling.
