Linking to the Blue Letter Bible
Extra caution must be used when linking to the Blue Letter Bible because of a unique way that site handles the addresses (i.e. the URLs) for its pages. For many sites if for each page the address changes, then you can copy the address for any particular page and use it as a link on Feast that will, so long as that page is available, take you to the appropriate page. The Blue Letter Bible works differently. In certain cases it creates temporary addresses. These work initially, but after some time stop working--despite the fact that the page is still available on the Blue Letter Bible's site.
This problem has been seen when linking to the lexical results page for a particular Hebrew or Greek word. It may exist on other portions of the site as well. (Note: if you see this problem in other parts of the site and can provide help for how to avoid it in those cases, please edit this page and add that.)
To link to the lexical results page for a particular Hebrew or Greek word, get the Strong's number and then use the format:
http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/words.pl?strongs=XXXXX
Replace the "XXXXX" with the appropriate Strong's #. If this is a Strong's # for a Greek word, use the Strong's # without a leading zero. If this is a Strong's # for a Hebrew word, add a single leading zero in front of the number.
For example...
To get to the Hebrew Strong's # 3871 create a link like this:
http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/words.pl?strongs=03871
To get to the Greek Strong's # 3871 create a link like this:
http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/words.pl?strongs=3871
In most cases, the pages on Blue Letter Bible with temporary addresses have an instruction box, just below the search results, entitled "Cite This Page", where you will find instructions for making a permanent link.
