- Balaam causing Israel to commit trespasses. According to the Quran 7:85-6, Jethro (known as Shu'aib, one of the 25 prophets in Islam) preached specifically against causing believers to commit trespasses. This would help motivate the condemnation of Balaam in New Testament writings (Rev 2:14 in particular; see also 2 Pet 2:15-16 and Jude 1:11).
