  • Verse 11: How does the name that King Benjamin gives to the people, the name of Christ (see exegesis below), distinguish this people from all the other people that the Lord brought out of Jerusalem? Why don't those other peoples also take upon them the name of Christ?

Exegesis

  • In verse 11, Benjamin tells his son Mosiah that he will give unto the people a name that they may be distinguished above all people the Lord God has brought out of the land of Jerusalem. We learn later, in chapter 5:7-15, that this name is the name of Christ. (See particularly 5:11.)
