Verse 6
- Ye have not eaten bread. This is likely referring to the fact that Israel ate manna instead of bread in the wilderness. Deut 8:3 would seem to confer this reading. The implication is that Israel drink water which Moses provided, rather than the more pleasing beverage of wine. There may also be a notion here that soberness is required in order to know God, since priests (Lev 10:9) and Nazerites (Num 6:3) were forbidden to drink wine.
