Rob, on your first question (copied below), I am failing to see what you are aiming at?

Matt, I guess what I'm trying to get at is...OK, so the Lord told Ammon to get the people out of the land. But the record does NOT then record that the Lord told them to go join up with the Nephites. Could they have gone somewhere else? This question is part of my overall looking at the history of the People of Ammon, and their children being caught up in armed conflict, and the possible backsliding of their descendants. Could it be that yes, the Lord wanted to save them and told Ammon to get them out of a bad situation, but that in taking them to live among the Nephites (Ammon's own idea), he put them in a situation where they were eventually a) tempted to break their oath and b) less able to teach their children the value of rejecting armed conflict and c) eventually willing to let their own children adopt a Nephite value system that supported war as opposed to their own willingness to be killed rather than have their garments spotted with blood. I like how MJ moved the first question into the exegesis. I ended up moving another question down to the exegesis section and when I got it there I ended up combining the two and making some changes.
