Hi Bhardle, Thanks for posting your thoughts here. I don't agree with the comments suggesting symbolism for temples and Satan. I propose removing those comments. Here's why I don't think the suggested symbolism works. First, verse 12 tells us that Amalikiah goes up into the mount to negotiate with Lehonti. Lehonti didn't in fact need to leave the mount to get into trouble. This is a pretty big difference I think since, if I understand your point (and I could easily be misunderstanding), the point of the symbolism is that the temple is a sanctuary from Satan. But in Lehoni's case he makes a deal with Amalikiah in the mountain that leads to his downfall. Second, you conclude with "It is only after we willfully choose to go outside of our temples and sin can we be in Satan's grasp." But in this story it isn't clear that Lehonti did sin. Together these two points I think suggest that this story doesn't help us understand any better the relationship between Satan, us and the temple.
