Subpages:   Old Testament    New Testament    Book of Mormon    Doctrine & Covenants    Pearl of Great Price

Feast upon the Word provides commentary on the Standard Works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often referred to as the Mormon Church). The Standard Works are: The Old Testament, The New Testament, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine & Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price. This commentary is provided free to all. In turn, we ask that you freely contribute to this site in accordance with our policies.

This site seeks to remain faithful to the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but has no formal affiliation or approval.

Getting started

You can select a page to read in one of five ways:

  1. You may want to begin by reading one of the following pages if this is your first time to visit the site: Ruth, Alma 13:1-5, Ether.
  2. You can use the menu tree by clicking on a link at the top of this page. Select a standard work, then a book, and then a subpage. For example: The Old Testament > Daniel > Chapter 2.
  3. You can go straight to a page by typing a verse reference into the search box. The search box is located in the top right corner of every page. You must use the standard LDS abbreviation for each book. For example: 1 Ne 16:28, not 1 Nephi 16:28. Also, you must search for only a single verse rather than an entire passage. For example: Matt 28:6, not Matt 28:6-8.
  4. You can go to the Sunday School lessons page.
  5. Or, if you cannot decide what to read, you can go to a page at random. The Random page link is located on the left margin of every page.

Contributing

Anyone can add to or edit the pages on this site, and your help is needed. Every page on this site was a blank template until someone contributed content. Some pages may still be empty. Others may be polished and full of content. Some have been repeatedly split into layers of subpages. But no page on a wiki will likely ever be "done." The fact that other people can edit what you write means you do not have to wait until you have something perfect before adding it. You can simply add a bullet point and let someone else turn it into a paragraph.

To contribute, follow these steps:

First, if you have not already done so, please create an account. Though anonymous edits are allowed, logging in will enable features that are unavailable to anonymous users.

Second, read the help on posting to commentary pages.

Third, on each page that you want to edit, the process is simple:

  1. Find the page for a section of scripture that interests you.
  2. Click on the edit tab at the top of that page.
  3. Type in content, add a link, or edit what someone has written.
  4. Click the "Save page" button and, if you have not authenticated your email address, answer a simple question to prove that you are not a robot.

If you want to help but do not know where to start, try First Nephi, Second Nephi, Jacob, or Enos.

For simple instructions on how to edit a page, see our Basic Quickstart help page. If you want to go beyond those basics, see our Wiki Markup Quickstart help page. For any other help, see our Main help page.

Linking to this site

When linking to this site, you will be much happier in the long run if you always link to an individual verse ('1 Ne 3:7'), an individual chapter ('First Nephi 3'), or a book ('First Nephi'). For example, if you want to link to a comment on the page '1 Ne 3:1-4:30', copy and paste the webpage address, but then edit the webpage address to identify only the first individual verse that you are interested in, such as '1 Ne 3:7'. For an explanation of why this will help you to avoid broken links in the future, see our Tutorial on internal links.
