"Grant" and creation-fall doubling

Joe, I esp. like how you've started thinking about the grant-indebtedness link--very thought-provoking (esp. in light of John Milbank's work on gift-exchange!). Also, before I forget, I also find very thought provoking the implicit link with 2 Nephi 2 that you've opened up--i.e., the fall as 2nd step of creation that is effectively a step up/forward. I think this could also be productively thought in relation to the Isaiah 6 "difficulty" that I was just thinking about in BOM Lesson 9--for future reference and convenience, the blog link is here. And, in case you (or anyone else) thinks of any thoughts along these lines, know that I'll be trying to steal/incorporate several of these ideas when I write on Genesis 15 and 17--I think there's good reason to think about the two covenants there as a doubling that is similar to the creation-fall bit you're uncovering here, and something I think that Adam M. has done a nice job of thinking about in Romans in his (forthcoming) book (well, I think he thinks about the first, creation step nicely--I think it'd be interesting to think about the fall bit of this much more carefully in Romans, chapters 2 and 9-11 esp...). --RobertC 04:43, 1 March 2008 (CET)
