I am editing the historical setting section to hopefully more accurately reflect what we do and don't know about it. Historically we have made a lot of assumptions about the timing of the arrival and demise of the Jaredites, but I don't think we currently know as much as we have assumed. For example, I'm not sure how much we can really say about the timing of the events at the "great tower." Also, the account of the destruction of the Jaredites is ambiguous--we are told in Omni 1:21 that the last Jaredite king Coriantumr "was discovered by the people of Zarahemla" but we don't know when exactly that occurred before Mosiah arrived in the Land of Zarahemla ca.130 B.C.
