"Dwelt in a tent"[edit]

I wonder if part of what is going on in repeatedly mentioning that Lehi dwelt in a tent is to contrast his present humble circumstances with his former circumstances. Maybe saying he dwelt in a tent is like saying he was on the lowest rung of the society. It is interesting too that Nephi talks about his father dwelling in a tent rather than saying the whole family did. --Matthew Faulconer 05:37, 5 Feb 2006 (UTC)

Nate, these are great ideas regarding "dwelt in a tent." If you haven't seen some of Joe's ideas regarding underlying temple structural themes employed by Nephi, check out 1 Ne 1:1, esp. the "Nephi's Four "Having's" section. Also, I noticed some Nibley quotes on this here. --RobertC 11:44, 16 July 2007 (CEST)
