[edit] Outline and brief summary

Mormon 8-9 was written after Mormon's death by his son Moroni. Moroni will eventually make more plates, translate the Jaredite record, and write the books of Ether and Moroni as well as the sealed two thirds of the Book of Mormon plates. But Moroni appears to have no idea that this will subsequently happen, and in these two chapters he writes what appears to be his farewell to the reader.
