Lexical notes

Verse 1
- "Old" and "new."" The words "old" and "new" both occur in only 20 different verses in the KJV of the Bible and LDS scripture (according to this lds.org search). Heb 8:13 may be the most important cross-reference to consider here, since the theme of covenant is being discussed there explicitly. It seems here that what is new is the sealing power of the priesthood. What seems a bit odd, however, is that the ordinance of baptism is an ordiance performed by the Aaronic not Melchezidek Priesthood, and Hebrews 7-8 seem to draw a distinction between old and new based on the distinction between the Levitical (or Aaronic) and the Melchezidek covenants.
